How we review

We’re an independent guide. This page explains what we check, how we earn money, and how we correct mistakes.

What we check

We check each listing against the provider’s own website: promo and renewal prices with the term they need, whether Singapore is offered as a server location, and whether the provider is on SGNIC’s list of accredited .sg registrars. Each fact shows the date we checked it and a link to where we read it.

Some providers block automated checks or don’t publish everything. Those listings say so: “Partly verified” means some facts are still unknown, and “Not yet confirmed on the provider’s site” means we’ve only seen the figure quoted elsewhere. Unknown values are shown as unknown, never guessed.

We don’t give star ratings or scores. Until we’ve tested a host ourselves, we publish facts only.

How we make money

  • Affiliate links. Some “Visit site” buttons may pay us a commission if you buy. Those buttons and pages carry an “Affiliate” label. At the moment no link on the site is an affiliate link.
  • Featured listings. Later, providers may be able to pay for a placement. It will always be labelled “Featured”, shown separately, and never change the facts.
  • Sponsorship. Sponsors never affect rankings, facts or what we write.

Listing is free for every provider. Rankings use price and published terms only, never commission.

How rankings work

Best-of pages rank hosts by what you’d actually pay over three years: the promo price for the promo term, then the renewal price for the rest. A host is only ranked when we’ve verified all three numbers on its own site. Prices in other currencies are converted to Singapore dollars at a dated exchange rate, which is shown on the page.

Keeping facts fresh

We re-check prices regularly and whenever a reader or provider tells us something has changed. When a fact changes, the provider page’s changelog records the date and what changed.

How benchmarks will work

We plan to put the same small WordPress test site on each host’s entry plan and measure response time and uptime from Singapore every few minutes. We’ll publish the method and the raw data with the results. Until then, every benchmark on the site says “Not yet tested”.

Corrections

If we get something wrong, tell us. We check every report against the provider’s own website, fix confirmed errors within two working days, and note the change on the page.
